Christmas 2005THE REVD ALFRED WILLIAM 1955-2005 Gifted young pastor Alfred William was in his forties when he died on 23rd July. He was one of our best clergy, ordained only two years ago. He was a great man of God, a faithful minister, gifted pastor and a great evangelist. His ministry was mainly among Sudanese refugees in Egypt, but he also served in Menouf and Old Cairo Church. He played an important role in the Committee of Alexandria School of Theology. He was a gifted musician and he used this gift among Sudanese and Egyptian youth. At the same night when he had the second brain haemorrhage he was participating with me in an Alpha graduation party where he played the music and rejoiced for 35 young people who gave their lives to the Lord during this course. His funeral at All Saints’ Cathedral was a remarkable service, which expressed the life of a clergyman who had many friends in different denominations. Over 20 clergy from different denominations participated and the Cathedral was full of Egyptians, Sudanese and ex-patriates. It is a great loss for us as a Diocese but we are sure that Alfred is rejoicing in the Kingdom. Please pray for comfort for his wife Samia, his children and his mother.
