Christmas 2007John Pringle, Honorary Treasurer of the Jerusalem and the East Mission Trust Limited, writes: I am pleased to report that our Charities have been able to increase the value of grants to support the work of the Anglican Churches in the Middle East by 4.8 per cent from £150,321 to £157,608 in the financial year ended 30 June 2007 (excluding exceptional items). This we have been able to do because income from legacies and from our investments is up compared to last year. We have also reduced the cost of administering the Charities from the office in Farnham. However the level of donations did fall quite significantly from £81,293 in 2005/06 to £67,739 in 2006/07. As these constitute a large proportion of our income we will be looking at ways to reverse this trend. A way to help One way you may be able to help. If you Gift Aid your donations you will be aware that from 1 April 2008 the benefit from Gift Aid to Charities such as ourselves falls from £28 to £25 per £100 donated. If you are able to offset this loss by increasing your regular giving this would help us tremendously. As you will see from the details of the grants listed, by your generosity we are able to support a wide range of institutions and projects in the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. Thank you for your continuing support. |
