Pentecost 2007REVD MONIR SOSTANES 1959-2006 Friend of prisoners It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that our dear Father Monir Sostanes, Co-ordinator of the Prison Ministry in Cairo, died of a massive heart attack on 6th December. He worked very hard with all his heart to serve the prisoners in Egypt. His funeral took place in Alexandria. His sudden death has come as a great shock to all who knew him. He leaves a wife, Neveen, and two young children, Samy and Maha, aged 13 and 10 years. He was very devoted to his work and greatly loved and he will be sadly missed. His friends and many of the prisoners were really shocked and saddened by his passing but we also know that he is in heaven. Please pray for his family and for the future of the prison ministry. Father Monir will be very difficult to replace in his ministry to the overseas long-term prisoners. His wife Neveen, who has worked faithfully alongside him, is keen to continue the Prison Ministry. We are very happy about this and will support her in every way we can. Father Monir had built up a network of support all over the world, and throughout the year people came from the USA and the UK, to spend a week or more visiting the prisoners. Please pray for the family and the Diocese facing sadness and grief. Request a copy of Bible Lands. |
