2024 Good Friday/Easter Offering

Good Friday - March 29th, 2024

Easter Sunday - March 31st, 2024
The Middle East is the birthplace of Christianity and there are Christians in every country in the region, although in most of these countries they face the challenge of living as minorities and in some face significant persecution.
For over 130 years, Anglican church congregations have supported the ministries of the Middle East Church through the Good Friday Offering, showing their support for the presence and witness of Christians in the Middle East.
The money from the Good Friday collections helps fund the ministries of the dioceses in the region such as education, medical care, reconciliation, shelter, therapy and emergency relief which is provided to all in the local communities, regardless of all faiths.
Bishop Anthony Ball (Chair of JMECA) wrote to the UK bishops calling on churches to pray for the region and highlighting the importance of this appeal at a time when the region has been hit by multiple challenges including the global cost of living crisis, the earthquake in Syria and neighbouring Turkey, escalating violence in Israel and Palestine and conflict in other countries across the dioceses.
"there is much to pray for alongside the many ways in which the church seeks to maintain her witness, responding to need and attempting to build peace."
Bishop Anthony Ball - Letter to Bishops GFO2023
JMECA invites parishes and individuals to dedicate make a Good Friday Offering to support the work and people of the Anglican Church in Jerusalem and across the Middle East, and to join together in prayer for our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land this Easter.
