Church Leaders Respond to Attack on Syria

In a joint statement the heads of three major churches in Syria said they

condemn and denounce the brutal aggression

called on the United Nations' Security Council to

play its natural role in bringing peace rather than contribute to escalation of wars

and urged churches in the UK, US and France to

fulfill their Christian duties

condemn this aggression and to call their governments to commit to the protection of international peace

In a tweet and on Facebook the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, sent a prayer for peace in Syria but did not comment on the rights or wrongs of the airstrikes.
