Mr David Wright OBE

David has been a Director of JMECA since 2003 when he retired from HM Diplomatic Service after 36 years service mainly in the Middle East. His postings overseas included Beirut, Baghdad, Doha, Durban and Atlanta.

David raised funds to build the first Anglican Church in Qatar during his final posting as Ambassador in Doha. He maintained his connections with the church’s work in the Middle East when he joined JMECA.

After retiring David advised his ex FCO colleagues about retirement. He served for 16 years as a Councillor on Guildford Borough Council, served as Deputy Leader, and chaired the Surrey Hills AONB Board for 5 years. He currently chairs Boom Community Bank, a credit union that serves Berkshire, North Hampshire, Surrey, Kingston and West Sussex.

David is married with five children and eight grandchildren.
