Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East
Diocese of Jerusalem
- peace and an end to the conflict in Gaza, and that it will not spread further into surrounding countries.
- the staff and volunteers at al Ahli Anglican Hospital in Gaza, who are continuing to treat the sick and wounded as best they can with limited supplies and for St Luke’s Hospital in Nablus treating the sick and injured in the West Bank.
- Archbishop Naoum and all who serve in the diocese, as they reach out to all whose lives are impacted by unrest within the country.
- the work and ministry of Fr Fadi Diab in Ramallah, remembering especially his parishioner, 23 year old Layan Nasir, held in administrative detention without trial since April. We remember her family, giving thanks for their work and witness to education in Palestine as the founders of Birzeit university.
- the work and ministry of Fr George Kopti at St. Paul’s Ashrafiyya in Amman, Jordan giving thanks especially for their continued work among Iraqi refugee children.
Diocese of Cyprus & the Gulf
- the new bishop, Bishop Sean Semple as he oversees the church in the many countries that form the diocese. Pray that “he will be blessed by God in order to be a spiritual and practical blessing to each nation”.
- the worship, life and work of St George's Church, Baghdad, Iraq, especially for the dedicated ministry of Revd Canon Faiz Jerjes. We honour the ecumenical relationship that exists among the Christian communities in Iraq, and give thanks for the return to Baghdad of Patriarch Louis Sako, leader of the Chaldean Christian community.
Diocese of Iran
All persian-speaking churches have not been allowed to re-open since the Covid pandemic. Former members of the Episcopal Diocese are not able to meet publicly for worship. Please pray for …
- the local deacons who are sustaining the churches and their congregations under the current restrictions
- for faithfulness in Christian living for the now elderly members.
- for the growing number of Iranians finding faith and joining Anglican churches outside the country
Province of Alexandria:
- wisdom and grace for Archbishop Samy and his episcopal team, their churches and agency leaders, and the existing and emerging congregations in their witness in diverse and challenging contexts.
- the new bishops, recently installed in the dioceses of North Africa, the Horn of Africa and Gambella.
- the work of the church in welcoming the many Sudanese refugees. In paricular at this time for St Raphael’s School, run by the Diocese of Egypt for Sudanese refugee children, in one of the most run-down areas of Cairo as they seek better premises.
- the staff, volunteers at the Harpur Memorial Hospital in Menouf and Sadat City as they aim to “meet human need with loving care” through their ministry.
