Anthony Ball became a trustee of JMECA in 2016 and was appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury as Chairman in 2018. He joined the Board of JEMT in 2019.
Anthony has been a Canon of Westminster since 2016 and is currently the Almoner and Rector of St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey. He is an Honorary Canon of the cathedrals in Cairo and Madrid, chairs the Christian international development charity Embrace the Middle East and the Governors of Westminster City School as well as being Co-Chair of the Central London Branch of Council of Christians and Jews and a trustee of the Christian Muslim Forum.
After studying at the University of Durham, he joined HM Diplomatic Service. During a posting in Kuwait he became an ordinand, was ordained whilst posted in Madrid, and then served in Damascus where, in addition to his work in the British Embassy and as the Anglican Chaplain, he was the Archbishop of Canterbury's representative to the Heads of the Orthodox Churches in Syria and Lebanon. He moved from there to work on Archbishop Rowan Williams' staff where he variously held responsibility for advising on Anglican Communion, Ecumenical, Inter Religious and International relations, and served as the Archbishop's Chaplain. From Lambeth Palace he went to be the Rector of Worth, Pound Hill and Maidenbower in West Sussex.
