Latest on the New Province of Alexandria

My dear brothers and sisters

Greeting in The Name of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ.

I would like to share with you good news which I received today.

The provincial synod of the Anglican / Episcopal Province of Jerusalem and Middle East decided to release the Diocese of Egypt to form the Episcopal / Anglican Province of Alexandria.

This means that we are now under the Metropolitan authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury who will come, when the time permit, to inaugurate our new province.

I thank God for his blessing over the last years and his Grace that enabled every one of us to reach this point in the journey with him.

I am also grateful for all Archbishops, Bishops, clergy and lay in our Province of Jerusalem and Middle East, Anglican Communion Office, Anglican Consultative Council and the Primates Meeting who supported us during this process.

We look forward to the visit of Archbishop Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury to inaugurate our new Province.

We all pray so that the Lord may continue with us the journey which He started. We also hope that this new Province would be a blessing for the Anglican communion and the world wide church of Christ.

Yours in Christ
Mouneer

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Mouneer Hanna Anis
Bishop of the Episcopal / Anglican Diocese of Egypt
with North Africa and the Horn of Africa
