Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, presided over the Eucharist on the Fourth Sunday in Advent on Sunday December 18th, 2022, attended by Anglican parishioners from Fuheis and from different congregations in Jordan.
The service marked the beginning of the new Anglican pastoral ministry in Fuheis which will be overseen by the Reverend Ibrahim Nairous, working alongside and a group of Diocesan Clergy. Bishop Naoum explained
The establishing of this Ministry Center in Fuheis is just the first step of our vision, we must continue to work to bring our dream of establishing an Anglican Congregation in Fuheis into reality, along side the other Sister-Churches serving in the city.
Bishop Naoum thanked the committee that was responsible for arranging the ministry and contacting the Anglican families who live in Fuheis. In his sermon, Bishop Naoum said:
Today we witness the fulfilment of a dream that we have longed for. It was a dream that came from a pastoral vision. God uses us in a variety of ways and has used the committee entrusted with arranging the ministry in Fuheis.
Bishop Naoum also talked about the Gospel of the day (Matthew 1: 18- 25 Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son), indicating that after St. Joseph saw the vision he trusted God and God’s mercies more than he trusted himself, and so he surrendered himself to the will of God. During the service, Bishop Naoum performed the Rite of Thanksgiving for the birth of a child, receiving the children and blessing them.
