A New High School Building in Irbid

Archbishop Hosam cuts the ribbon across the stairs leading to the new upper floorsUnder the Patronage of Archbishop Hosam Naoum the Arab Episcopal School in Irbid, in the North of Jordan, inaugurated the new High School building on Saturday Morning, November 13, 2021, in the presence of Rev’d Canon Samir Esaied, the General Director of the school and the Rector of St. Mary’s Church, Rev’d Deacon Jameel Maher Khader, Dr. Husein Khasawneh, Director of Special Education at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Kasim Hmadneh, the Administrative Director at the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Sabah Zreikat, the head of the school, members of the board of directors, and administrative and academic faculties.

The Archbishop, his wife, general director of the school and all other guests sitting during the outdoor assemblyAt the beginning, the assembly stood for the National Anthem, then the Archbishop led a special prayer to bless and inaugurate the new building. Bishop Naoum extended his warmest greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah II, and thanked him for safeguarding both Islamic and Christian Holy Places in Jerusalem, and praised His Majesty for his role in spreading the culture of peace in the region. Bishop Naoum thanked the school’s administration, the board of directors, the Ministry of Education, and all those working especially on the student integration program. He said:

...this ministry is a source of hope for all people in this region since it provides equal opportunities to all. Any institution that gives people opportunities to build themselves, has built the entire world.

The school is not only open to both Islamic and Christian children but also integrates students who are partially or completely blind alongside sighted students. The opening of the two new floors expands the high school to enable the inclusions of eleventh and twelfth grade students, a move that was happily welcomed by the community.

Finally, they visited St. Mary’s Church, where they had a a short prayer service.
