At the 2023 Synod, Archbishop Michael Lewis announced that he would retire in 2023 and we have just received his announcement giving his final date as midnight on 8th June 2023 which is the Feast of Corpus Christi.
Currently, Archbishop Michael holds the Primacy of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East and this will have been passed on to the Archbishop in Jerusalem, the Right Reverend Hosam Naoum on 12th May 2023.
JMECA will be sad to say farewell to Archbishop Michael with whom they have worked very closely over the past 15 years but wish him well and will be praying for him and his family as he retires.
