A Sunday Times article written by Archbishop Welby and the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem Hosam Naoum describes a catalogue of worrying, systematic attempts to drive the Christian community out of Jerusalem and other parts of the Holy Land.
Their joint article is a response to the Christmas Message of the Patriarchs and Heads of the Churches of Jerusalem 2021 published on 14th December, describing frequent attacks on Churches as well as intimidation of local Christians as they go about their worship and daily lives in the Holy Land.
Archbishop Welby and Naoum conclude their article with a prayer:
Woven through the first Christian story is a message of hope and of good news for all people — a small light that can never be put out. Whatever your religion or belief, may you know the peace and joy of the Christ-child this Christmas.
