Rev’d Crimson, Chaplain at the church of Christ the King in Tripoli, reports that the distribution of food packages to those affected by the recent floods is continuing apace. (For the original story go to: https://www.jmeca.org.uk/latest/news/church-responds-libyan-floods-bring...).
He writes, ‘we have continued to distribute the food packages especially to the Sudanese refugees around Tarhuna. Things went well yesterday when almost 40 bags were distributed by reaching out to the places worst affected. Many families share one house despite many children. One young man returned two of the bags that was received by his father thinking that I am trying to convert them, which of course I am not. But all the remaining people including ladies welcomed me and two locals helped me with distribution by locating the places of most need.’
Alongside these works of mercy, the anticipation of Christmas has been celebrated with fine Christmas hymns in the morning and in the afternoon our choir contributed Carol songs in the Catholic church at the Ecumenical Carol service. This all continues in the context of some local tension that has resulted in a few arrests from both the Anglican and Catholic congregations.
